Use judgment in the shop
Disclaimer
WNC Flute provides first-pass layout estimates for hobby flute makers. The calculator is not a substitute for careful measurement, conservative drilling, tuner checks, and final hand tuning.
No warranty
Outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, or unsuitable for a particular blank, bore, wood species, wall thickness, sound-hole geometry, or playing style. Use your judgment before cutting or drilling.
Shop safety
Use appropriate eye protection, dust protection, clamps, sharp tools, and safe drilling practices. This site does not provide tool-safety instruction.
Measure before drilling
Mark all positions, check hand comfort, confirm wall thickness, and start with conservative pilot holes. Flat notes can usually be raised by gradual enlargement. Sharp notes are difficult to repair.
3D printing
3D-printing notes and links are provided as references. Each printer, slicer, and filament behaves differently. Tune the printed flute with a tuner before assuming the model is correct for your machine.
